Soldier in Hills in Kansas

Posted by Emmett Urban at 08:03 PM on September 07, 2009

One night back in 1982 we had  a football game in the Flinthills in western Kansas just close to the Colorado border. It was a 6 hour drive back home. The game was against Flinthills High school and the first few hours of the drive was back through the Flinthills. We were probably 2 hours from where we left and that far from any town. We were in the middle of no where, no houses, towns, gas stations nothing. It was a very cold night and the moon was shining bright. My mom was driving and our quarterback and his mother and one more lady was in the car. We went over a hill and when we got to the valley or low part there was a tiny cemetary or more like a grave yard. Someone mentioned what a desolate place for a graveyard. As we passed there were dead branches in the highway so we slowed down, right in front of the graveyard stood a man in a uniform. It appeared to be a Civil war uniform or it could have been a cavalry soldier. He had a brimmed hat like the c                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         avalry wears not a cap/. He was standing there looking at us but he appeared to be transparent. You could see right through him. I yelled stop the car and my friend and I got out to see if he needed help. It never dawned on me that we had seen an apparition, but the soldier was gone, there was no one anywhere around. We got back in the car and told our mom's there was no one there. Silently we drove on all amazed and not really understanding what we just experienced.
